29 week pregancy update.png

It’s officially my last week in 20’s. By Friday I’ll be 30 weeks and thus the count down shall begin! For the past few weeks, I’ve been prepping myself for this moment and now that its here and all I can think of is “theres not enough time to get my ish together!” So here is a recap of week 29.

How Far Along: 29 Weeks and 6 days. The baby is the size of a butternut squash and weighs approximately weighs about 2 1/2 lbs. Lengthwise she should be about 15  inches long.

Development:  According to the “Baby Center” app, her nutritional demand shall be increasing. Meaning that I need to continue to eat healthy and get the vitamins she will need (protein, vitamin C and D, folic acid etc). I will also need to eat a lot of calcium based food such as milk, yogurt, cheese etc (no issue for me since I love cheese). Lungs and muscles are still maturing and her head is growing. Which allows for enough space for her developing brain.

Days until my due date: 75 days!

Medical Appointment: Today I have a my follow up appointment. I’m not sure what is going to happen at this appointment other than have my glucose test results read. Since I was not called to be given the results, I’m guessing I passed.  I believe today, her measurements will be taken. Which will be interesting to find out, considering that the majority of our family members are either extremely short or obnoxiously tall. There is no in between.

Maternity: This past week I bought a few more dresses (see previous blog post) and a tank top. I did attempt to buy a bathing suit, but I had no luck!  They were all too small, so I may just have to venture into the XL or XXL realm. I have been looking to purchase nursing bras, as well as night gowns and panties for labor and post labor. So far, I’m into the styles that the brand Kindred Bravely has. But I’m still looking around before making any final decisions. I did, however purchase some nipple covers. Hopefully they work because I can not return them (bought them at Toys r us)

Food Cravings: There is not much update on this topic, as its all still the same. I’m not craving anything specific. However, I was disgusted when by the chicken salad that I made (not a big fan of mayo!) I’m still eating a bunch of sweets. These past few weeks, I’ve been munching on Oreos!

Wedding Ring:  It’s still on! I’m still shocked by this.

Baby Goodies Acquired: The update here is that this past Monday, she broke my bank. I spent more than what I should have at Babys R Us. But I couldn’t help it. I felt like the “nesting” syndrome hit me like a ton of bricks. We had gone to Target in order to have our registry done, but we could not find any clothing items for fall and winter. Although she will be born in the summer, she will officially be here towards the end of the season. Meaning, that she will actually fully start to develop during the colder months of the year!  Thus, why we need a lot of fall and winter clothes. We decided to also have a registry on Amazon, which gives us the options of adding winter clothes at this time. But even with this in mind, I still went and bought two bags worth outfits!  In addition to setting up the registries and buying clothes, my husband rearranged our bed so that there would enough space to put an actual crib. So little by little, things are coming along.

Best moment this week: The fact that we have more clothes for her. In addition, I entered three contests in the past week and I’m happy to announce that baby girl has won two out of the three (more on this soon).  She is one lucky baby!

Weight: Currently I’m playing around  161-163 lbs. I’m still trying to come into terms with this. However, lately, the weight has not been bothering me as much. I guess this is a good sign!

Thoughts and Feelings: This past week has been a quite challenging for. Not because of my pregnancy, but because there are a lot of things that are out of my control. Thus with all of these new changes (professional wise). I’m starting to feel overwhelmed, agitated, annoyed and upset. On top of this, I also felt guilty. Guilty, that I was feeling like this and transmitting these types of emotions onto my daughter. I mentioned this to my coworker,  who said the following: “Blanca, its ok that you’re feeling like this. YOU ARE ALLOWED!” When I say that a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I’m not kidding. With that said, I had reached the end of a difficult week. So I decided to do what any normal person would do. I decided to do some self care i.e. eat, watch Sex and the City and impatiently wait for my next reading material (“Pushed” by Jennifer Block- more on this later). My recommendation, whenever you’re feeling like this, just do some self care and express yourself. Theres nothing more liberating than letting out what you feel!

Stretch-marks:  Very minimal. The only two that you can see were already there before I even got pregnant.

Looking Forward to: This week I have my maternity shoot! I am extremely excited for this! I’ve been looking forward to this since I started showing. I just imagine the photos and how they will turn out. Aside from this, I’m also looking forward to the start of the World Cup! A month full of football with the best of best teams and players! Talk about a busy summer.

Thank you for reading and for being part of this journey. I hope to post another pregnancy update in another two weeks or so!
