I know I’ve been MIA from blogging as hubs and I have welcomed our baby girl about two weeks ago! She weighed 6 lbs 7 oz and was 18 inches long (she was an inch and half short of what the baby app predicted but I knew that she would be a peanut!) Now, for the big reveal (unless you follow me on Instagram)….her name. Baby girl’s name is Riley Serenity. Hubs and I came to a compromise (thanks to my sister in law) in regards to her name. We could not decide on a name and we were both adamant about the names we had in mind. Thankfully, they work well together!

6 Days old- She smiles a lot when she sleeps

These last few days have been a whirlwind and somewhat of a blur. Truth be told, I don’t remember much of her birth. I do, however, have a few flash backs to those moments.  As brand new parents, we’re trying to figure out what her needs are and what we can do in order to meet them. Each day she teaches us something new and we’re eager to see what her personality will be like in the future. We’re also trying to soak up this precious time as we know that she won’t stay like this forever!

Riley’s Birth Story is completely different from what I expected her birth to be. Some of what was on my birth plan was followed but I had to be flexible towards the end as she was not coming down. On the other hand, Postpartum has been quite challenging for various reasons, but I’m trying my best to not be beaten down by it. If there’s any interest in her birth story and my postpartum, I’ll definitely share our experiences.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being apart of our journey. We’re excited to see where she takes us in the next adventure.

  1. Lovely post and beautiful name! Very interested in your birth story and postpartum journey . PP is hardly spoken about and I’m struggling with my own. I’d love to be part of breaking the stigma and talking about it openly with other women who might be struggling and want to reach out avout it xx

    1. Thank you! Riley is starting to grow on me 😭 Her Birth story is a wild one more so because of my husbands reaction to some of the medical staff and what they were doing to me. And you’re right about PP. Its hardly spoken about and I have to admit, it was difficult for me to even bring it up to my husband. I didn’t and don’t want to worry him because I knew that in the end I would be fine. Ultimately. I ended up telling him and my OB. I think to myself, if it was hard for me to even bring it and I’m not experiencing full blown PPD, I can only imagine how hard it must be to address it when you’re actually going through PPD. It’s time to break the stigma behind it! 💗💗
